At the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show that opened today, Honda MEV-VAN concept car was officially released. The new car is an experimental pure electric model developed based on the N-Van light commercial vehicle platform. The new car is equipped with a removable battery pack.
MEV-Van follows the pure electric drive system of the prototype car, but does not install the battery pack under the floor of the original car. Instead, it is placed above the cabin floor, at the same height as the folded passenger seat. . This design allows the battery replacement mechanism to be simplified into eight handheld battery packs inserted diagonally and vertically into the battery slot.
When the vehicle's battery is low, the new vehicle only needs to drive to the corresponding self-service battery replacement cabinet, and the battery can be easily replaced manually. The flexible replacement, charging and discharging of these portable batteries can help coordinate peak shaving and valley filling of the power grid. The power swap cabinet can also use renewable power from solar panels, making it cleaner.
