BMW recalls over 360,000 vehicles due to hidden dangers in ABS/DSC functions

Recently, BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and Guangguang Automobile Co., Ltd. have submitted to the national market in accordance with the requirements of the "Defective Automotive Product Recall Management Regulations" and the "Implementation Measures of the Defective Automotive Product Recall Management Regulations" The State Administration of Supervision and Administration has filed a recall plan. Effective immediately, the following vehicles are being recalled.

(1) BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd.:

Some imported X5M cars with production dates from March 16, 2023 to May 15, 2024, a total of 411 units;

Some imported X6M cars with production dates from March 23, 2023 to April 22, 2024, a total of 149 units;

Some imported X6 cars with production dates from February 23, 2023 to June 6, 2024, a total of 4,282 units;

Some imported X7 cars with production dates from July 14, 2022 to June 12, 2024, a total of 16,965 units;

Some imported XM cars with production dates from June 6, 2022 to April 18, 2024, a total of 461 units;

Some imported 5 Series cars with production dates from October 17, 2023 to June 7, 2024, a total of 2,470 units;

Some imported 7 Series cars with production dates from June 13, 2022 to June 12, 2024, a total of 24,115 units;

Some imported X2 cars with production dates from November 3, 2023 to June 3, 2024, a total of 4,441 units;

Some imported MINI JCW COUNTRYMAN cars with production dates from March 1, 2024 to June 10, 2024, a total of 251 units;

Some imported Rolls-Royce Shining cars with production dates from August 10, 2023 to April 8, 2024, a total of 76 units.

(2) BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd.:

Some domestic X5 cars with production dates from February 22, 2023 to August 29, 2024, a total of 95,314 units;

Some domestically produced 5 Series cars with production dates from August 15, 2023 to August 29, 2024, a total of 83,287 units;

Some domestic X1 cars with production dates from November 7, 2022 to August 30, 2024, totaling 125,901 units.

(3) Guangguang Automobile Co., Ltd.:

Some domestic MINI COOPER cars with production dates from June 1, 2024 to August 30, 2024, a total of 5,552 units;

Some domestic MINI ACEMAN cars with production dates from June 24, 2024 to August 30, 2024, a total of 2,682 units.

Due to manufacturing reasons, some vehicles within the scope of this recall have interference in the electrical signal of the motor position sensor of the integrated brake booster device (DSCi), which may cause the DSCi to be unable to provide auxiliary braking and affect anti-locking. The ABS and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) functions pose safety risks.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and Guangguang Automobile Co., Ltd. will use vehicle remote upgrade (OTA) technology to upgrade the software for vehicles within the recall scope free of charge. The software can monitor DSCi's potential risks, and an early warning message is issued through the vehicle system, prompting the user to return to the store to replace DSCi parts for free to eliminate potential safety hazards. For vehicles that cannot be upgraded through OTA, users can go to the store to recall them for free.

This recall activity is based on the recall measures of the "BMW Brilliance Automobile Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. recall some domestically produced and imported BMW vehicles" issued on March 29, 2024. changes and expand the scope of the recall.

BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd., BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and Guangguang Automobile Co., Ltd. will notify relevant users by registered mail, connected driving messages, etc.
